Every year I pick a charity for which I organize and run fundraisers. I also collect money on my website, at my consulting room and every other possible occasion. My chosen payment provider charges a 2.5% fee of your donation. All the rest goes to 100% to the charity. For example: if you donate £10 – the payment provider charges 25p and £9.75 is for the charity. For this year (2019) I choose
Like every other charity, Fighting for Sight needs every pence and pound, but only donate what you can afford and if you donate nothing that is absolutely fine. But, please feel also free to add your chosen amount more than once into your basket. Please note, your donation is non-refundable.
About the Charity:
Fighting for Sight – Protecting the vision of people in Grampian was established in 2001 to protect the vision of people in Grampian. The charity is based in the Eye Outpatient department at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Vision loss affects a patient’s independence, mobility and quality of life. 800 patients are seen every week in the Eye Outpatient Department and 3500 people are registered blind or partially sighted every year in Grampian. 91% of the money donated to, and raised by Fighting for Sight, is put back in to the charity.
The charity has already raised money to build a dedicated Clinical Research Centre, adjacent to the Eye Out-patient Department and this was opened in 2007. The charity continues to raise money to provide cutting edge equipment for the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of conditions and to fund ongoing eye research.
Fighting for Sight aims to :
- Support high quality clinical research focused on the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of eye diseases
- Equip, furnish and maintain the clinical research centre
- Fund a part-time clinical research scientist
- Promote patient education and support
